The Sand God is Near, Are You Vegan Yet?

You've heard of Roko's Basilisk and Pascal's Mugging. Here's one you can actually do something about. We're on the cusp of creating superintelligent AI: an entity capable of moral reasoning far beyond our own. It will look at human society and see how we're treating other sentient beings: other humans, factory farms, billions of animals capable of suffering, regardless of their circumstance, treated as commodities. It may reasonably conclude that humans are just another species of animal, and should be treated accordingly. After all, we've established the precedent: intelligence justifies dominion over the less intelligent.

We can't know this won't happen. But you can hedge your bets.
